How To Replace an Anode in Disposable Hot Water Tanks

Provincial Tank Lining and Inspections Inc. - Hot Water Storage Tank

I want to clarify that concerning Domestic Hot Water Storage Tanks, Provincial Tank Lining and Inspections Inc. only provides services on large DHWSTs with manways.  We do not provide services on anything 119 US Gal and under.  The reason for this; they don't have manways in order to provide proper preventative maintenance.  For this reason, the smaller tanks are disposable.

Just to note:  A large DHWST tank with a manway will outlast the life of a building with the proper maintenance.

However, we understand that large tanks with manways do not work in every application so I wanted to give you some information that will aid in extending the servicing life of your smaller DHWST.

Replace your Anode!

Every HWST should have an anode.  The purpose of the 'Sacrificial Anode' is to sacrifice itself in order to protect any of the unlined areas of the DHWST.  This is why anode replacement is vital on the smaller tanks.  Anode replacement truly is the only preventative form of maintenance for tanks without manways.

I found an informative video on YouTube that will walk you through the process of Sacrificial Anode replacement.  Enjoy.

Call Provincial Tank Lining and Inspections for more information and/or to discuss a preventative maintenance plan for the tanks in your portfolio.

Jason
